Jay Leno hospitalized after falling ill

Thursday's taping of the The Tonight Show with Jay Leno has been canceled because Leno was hospitalized in California after falling ill, NBC said.

The network said it plans to air a repeat instead of a fresh episode that was supposed to feature appearances by Ryan Reynolds, Jules Sylvester and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

NBC spokeswoman Tracy St. Pierre told KTLA News she did not think a rumor that Leno, 58, may be suffering from food poisoning was true. St. Pierre declined to discuss Leno's condition, saying only that he is under doctors' observation, KTLA said.

Leno recently performed two free stand-up comedy shows in Michigan for people hard hit by the economy. He announced plans this week for a free show in Ohio.
