Michael Jackson begged for sedative drug diprivan

Michael Jackson was so distraught over persistent insomnia in recent months that he pleaded for a powerful sedative despite warnings it could be harmful, says a nutritionist who was working with the singer as he prepared his comeback bid.

Cherilyn Lee, a registered nurse whose specialty includes nutritional counseling, said Tuesday that she repeatedly rejected his demands for the drug, Diprivan, which is given intravenously.

But a frantic phone call she received from Jackson four days before his death made her fear that he somehow obtained Diprivan or another drug to induce sleep, Lee said.

While in Florida on June 21, Lee was contacted by a member of Jackson's staff.

"He called and was very frantic and said, `Michael needs to see you right away.' I said, 'What's wrong?' And I could hear Michael in the background ..., 'One side of my body is hot, it's hot, and one side of my body is cold. It's very cold,'" Lee said.

Several months ago, Jackson had begun badgering Lee about Diprivan, also known as Propofol, Lee said. It is an intravenous anesthetic drug widely used in operating rooms to induce unconsciousness. It is generally given through an IV needle in the hand.

"I said, `Tell him he needs to go the hospital. I don't know what's going on, but he needs to go to the hospital ... right away."

"At that point I knew that somebody had given him something that hit the central nervous system," she said, adding, "He was in trouble Sunday and he was crying out."

Jackson did not go to the hospital. He died June 25 after suffering cardiac arrest, his family said. Autopsies have been conducted, but an official cause of death is not expected for several weeks.

"I don't know what happened there. The only thing I can say is he was adamant about this drug diprivan," Lee said.

"I had an IV and when it hit my vein, I was sleeping. That's what I want," Lee said Jackson told her.

"I said, 'Michael, the only problem with you taking this medication'—and I had a chill in my body and tears in my eyes three months ago—'the only problem is you're going to take it and you're not going to wake up," she recalled.

According to Lee, Jackson said it had been given to him before but he didn't want to discuss the circumstances or identify the doctor involved.

The Sun is reporting that it has received a copy of the corner’s autopsy report and by the sounds of Jackson was in pretty bad shape.According to the leaked document Michael was literally skin and bones having barely eaten and the contents of his stomach showing only pills.His hips, shoulders and thighs supposedly were riddled with needle wounds which is believed to be a result of daily injections of narcotic painkillers.His body had several broken ribs from the rescuers attempts to resuscitate him. There is also suggestions that four injection sites were found above or near to his heart.And a mass of surgery scars were thought to be the legacy of at least 13 cosmetic operations.

The autopsy also found unexplained BRUISING on Jackson’s knees and on the fronts of both shins. And there were CUTS on his back, indicating a recent fall.

Air France “black box” signals located - report

Signals from the flight data recorders of an Air France airliner that crashed into the Atlantic killing all 228 people on board have been located, Le Monde newspaper said on its website on Tuesday.

But a spokeswoman from the BEA, the French air accident authority, noted that many sounds were picked up on the sea bed and investigators were not sure that what they had detected was from the flight recorders.

“It’s not the first time sounds have been heard and we will be verifying this with all the equipment we have at our disposal,” she said. “The search is continuing and we haven’t found the recorders.”An Air France spokeswoman also said she could not confirm the newspaper report.

After a five plus year struggle with prostate cancer, sports director Gary Papa, 54, died Friday 19 June 2009 at 2:57 pm at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His last appearance on Action News was on May 13. This is the bad news for sports World.

It cited an analysis by the Japanese Defense Ministry and intelligence gathered by U.S. reconnaissance satellites.While the newspaper speculated the Taepodong-2 could fly over Japan and toward Hawaii, it said the missile would not be able to hit Hawaii's main islands, which are about 4,500 miles (7,200 kilometers) from the Korean peninsula.
U.S. officials have said the North has been preparing to fire a long-range missile capable of striking the western U.S. In Washington on Tuesday, Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it would take at least three to five years for North Korea to pose a real threat to the U.S. west coast.

"It has inspired us to eat better, work harder and grow more vegetables," said fifth-grader David Martinez.

Involving the students in the White House garden was about more than just digging in the dirt, Mrs. Obama said.

"They've really learned some lessons about nutrition," she said, as the rest of their classmates and their parents listened from the sidelines. "They're making different choices because they're a part of the process of planting and tilling the soil and pulling up the food."

Shafii was admitted to the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, but the condition of the two remaining embryos became increasingly fragile. "You have to go to Israel," the doctor told her.
The Shafiis were lucky. Iman was permitted to enter Israel after only 24 hours. She took a taxi to a spot near the Eres border crossing, and then she was pushed in a wheelchair across the last 500 meters of bumpy ground. She reached the Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon just in time. She gave birth on Feb. 25, by Caesarean section, to a girl, Bayan, and to the couple's long-awaited son, Faisal.

15 years old, 58 cm tall ,she is the worlds smallest girl

Jyoti Amge, is a 15 years old teenage student from India . The most incredible fact about her is that she is just 1 feet 11 inches or 58 cm tall. She is also the worlds smallest girl .She is shorter than the average two-year-old child and only weighs 11lb


She has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia and won't grow any taller than her current height.Despite this, she goes to a regular school in Nagpur, central India, where she has her own small desk and chair, and her classmates treat her like any other student

Jyoti is treated like a mini-celebrity in her home town, where people flock to meet her and some even treat her like a goddess.

She will even be releasing an album with her favourite Indian pop star, the bhangra/rap star Mika Singh.

Despite ups and down in his family life and repeated failures, Islam never let go of his dream of cracking the examination one day.
Islam scored 371 marks out of 600 in the examination, the results of which were declared last week.
District education department officials said Islam could not pass the internal school test to become eligible for the Class 10 exam in 1992. He cleared the school-level test but failed in the board exams in 1993 and 1994. The next year he did not appear for the examination.

'Between 1996 and 1998, he sat for the same exam but failed three consecutive times and in 1999 Islam's father passed away. He left his studies and tried to concentrate on farming,' an official said.

'He got admission to Class 8 in Rakhaldaspur Madhyamik School in 2004 and started his preparation for Class 10,' he added.

Islam appeared for the Class 10 exam in 2007 but could not secure the pass marks in science. In 2008, he failed in physical science and mathematics.

'I had no interest in maths and my handwriting was also very poor. But I had to pass so I started practicing that subject along with physical science,' said Islam.

This year, he secured 73 marks in physical science and 20 (the minimum passing marks) in mathematics.

Pakistan cheating US ,misusing aid against India

Pentagon documents have confirmed that Pakistan has used a substantial amount of military aid from the US meant to fight terrorism to build up its army with modern weapons and equipment for a conventional warfare against India,

All this was done with the knowledge of the then Bush Administration, which not only provided USD 1.9 billion in Foreign Military Financing (FMF) but also signed agreements with Pakistan for military sales worth nearly USD 5 billion during the period, showed the documents.

The Pentagon reports detail the brazen diversion of funds given to Pakistan between 2002 and 2009 and the Pervez Musharraf government -- often described by George W Bush as America's "strong" ally in the "war against terror" - to acquire arms ranging from anti-tank missiles to F 16s. The arsenal was meant to blunt India's edge in conventional weaponry.

Pakistan misused this US aid to bought eight P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft and their refurbishment worth USD 474 million. It also placed orders for 5,250 TOW anti-armour missiles worth USD 186 million. 2,007 of these have already been delivered and the rest are in the process of being supplied.

Besides buying more than 5,600 military radio sets worth USD 163 million, Pakistan bought six AN/TPS-77 surveillance radars worth USD 100 million and six C-130E transport aircraft and their refurbishment worth USD 76 million. Under the Excess Defence Articles (EDA), it was granted 20 AH-1F Cobra attack helicopters, which were then refurbished, according to the Pentagon documents.

Pakistan also used a substantial chunk of America's FMF to purchase up to 60 mid-life update kits for F-16 A/B combat aircraft valued at USD 891 million. Of this, it paid USD 477 million from the FMF funds given by the United States.

Similarly, of the USD 87 million worth order for 115 M-109 self-propelled howitzers, it paid USD 53 million from FMF. And all this happened while Pakistan's economic situation deteriorated.

Islamabad also paid a whopping USD 1.43 billion to the US to purchase 18 new F-16 combat aircraft and another USD 629 million for F-16 armaments.

Prominent among these are 500 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles; 1,450 2,000-pound bombs; 500 JDAM tail Kits for gravity bombs and 1,600 Enhanced Paveway laser-guided kits, also for gravity bombs. F-16 has not been delivered to date.

Pakistan also paid USD 298 million for 100 Harpoon anti-ship missiles; USD 95 million for 500 sidewinder air-to-air missiles and USD 80 million for six Phalanx close-in-naval guns.

While the Pentagon notified Congress on the possible transfer to Pakistan of three P-3B aircraft as EDA grants that would be modified to carry the E-2C Hawkeye air-borne early warning suite in a deal worth up to USD 855 million, this effort has not progressed beyond the notification stage.

Major EDA grants since 2001 include 14 F-16A/B combat aircraft and 39 T-37 military trainer jets. Under Coalition Support Funds -- part of the Pentagon budget -- Pakistan has received 26 Bell 412 utility helicopters, along with related parts and maintenance, valued at USD 235 million.

Russian woman gives birth during heart operation

A woman unexpectedly went into labor just before heart surgery in the Russian city of Penza, and gave birth to a healthy girl, the clinic's chief doctor said on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old woman from the nearby Russian republic of Mordovia "was admitted to the clinic for an urgent operation to replace an artificial heart valve, which the patient had been living with for several years," Dr. Vladlen Bazylev .

Replacing a heart valve usually involves open-heart surgery, and is considered a high-risk procedure.

Surgeons were preparing to carry out the operation, when the woman went into labor, two and a half months before she was due. The doctors decided to carry out a cesarean section, before replacing the valve.

After more than six hours on the operating table, the woman's condition is satisfactory. Dr. Bazylev said the baby girl is being closely monitored, but is not in any danger.

Air France plane missing mysteriously after storm

An Air France passenger jet with 228 people on board disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean on its way from Brazil to Paris on Monday after hitting strong turbulence and French officials said they feared a disaster.
Flight AF 447 from Rio de Janeiro to Paris left the Rio de Janeiro airport at 7 pm Sunday night local time (GMT-3) and was expected at the Charles de Gaulle airport Monday at 11:15 am local time (GMT+2), according to the French airports authority.

The flight went missing after it dropped off the radar after taking off. Its last known location was unclear. Aviation authorities initially believed the disappearance could be due to a transponder problem although such occurrences are rare.

Air France said that the aircraft had sent a message reporting an electrical "short circuit" after strong turbulence.

The company said the plane had probably been struck by lightning.

An Airbus source described the failure as "catastrophic" suggesting a sudden and unexplained systems failure.
